In September 2025, Shintaro Nakayama, COO of OUI Inc., visited Brazil.

During his stay, he traveled to the state of Bahia to conduct a field visit for the indigenous community eye care project “Aldeia em Foco”, implemented by our local partner Instituto Suel Abujamra with the support of the IDB Lab. In the capital city Brasília, Mr. Nakayama held discussions with the Ministry of Health of Brazil, and in São Paulo, he visited Instituto Suel Abujamra to discuss future collaboration.

Following the visit in Brazil, Shintaro, together with the senior members of Instituto Suel Abujamra, visited the headquarters of the IDB in Washington D.C., where they reported on the progress of the Aldeia em Foco project to representatives of IDB Lab.

This project received the IDB Innovation Award 2024 and has been highly recognized for its efforts to deliver ophthalmic care to indigenous peoples in remote areas through the use of mobile medical devices, tele-diagnosis, and AI. During this visit, the team also received strong encouragement from IDB representatives.
