On June 25, 2024, Dr. Rohan from OUI Inc. gave a presentation at the 2024 One ASEAN Startup Award held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This event, organized by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), aims to recognize the most innovative and outstanding startups in the ASEAN region.
As a startup with innovative technology in the medical field, OUI Inc. was chosen as one of the 5 finalists among hundreds of applicants in the “Impact” category (the other one being “AI” category). Each finalist was invited to perform a 5-minute pitch presentation on their organization and their activities. Although OUI Inc. failed to reach the next round, we had many new encounters with local doctors and engineers. This gave us opportunities to plan and promote research in rural areas of Malaysia, as well as other parts for South East Asia
From June 28 to 30, 2024, OUI Inc.’s CEO Dr. Shimizu and Dr. Rohan presented as invited lectures at The 3rd Ho Chi Minh City Ophthalmology Conference (HOOC3) held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Although this conference is a domestic conference in Vietnam, our connection with Vietnam has been strong for a while and we had the opportunity to further strengthen it
At this conference, Dr. Shimizu presented on anterior segment diagnosis AI, and Dr. Rohan discussed his eye screening in Nepal. Additionally, Dr. Duong Minh Nguyet from iVision, who is conducting joint research with OUI Inc., presented the results of a clinical study using the Smart Eye Camera with a talk titled “Investigate cataracts with a smart facial imaging device.”
