In January 2026, our CEO, Dr. Shimizu, delivered a presentation at the 49th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Ophthalmic Surgery. We also exhibited our devices at the 54th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society of Health Evaluation and Promotion. In addition, Mr. Nishimura, an optometrist at OUI Inc., was selected as a recipient of the Academic Exhibition Excellence Award at the 79th Annual Congress of the Japan Clinical Ophthalmology.
At the 49th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Ophthalmic Surgery, held in Fukuoka on January 30, 2026, Dr. Shimizu presented a case titled “A Case of Objective Improvement in Post-surgery Outcomes at a Rural Hospital in Vietnam.” The presentation reported on 36 cataract surgeries performed over three days at a hospital in northern Vietnam. It also highlighted the significant regional disparities in healthcare access, including shortages of ophthalmologists and medical equipment.
At the 54th Japan Society of Health Evaluation and Promotion meeting, held in Yokohama from January 23 to 24, 2026, we showcased our Smart Eye Camera, the remote interpretation service “+Eye Dr.,” and its mobile corporate screening service “Mobile Eye Scan.” The exhibition provided an opportunity to introduce these services to a wide range of healthcare professionals.
Previously, at the 79th Annual Congress of the Japan Clinical Ophthalmology in October 2025, Mr. Nishimura presented two cases of improvement of chemical ocular injuries through telemedicine in remote island and rural clinics. The work was highly evaluated and led to the Academic Exhibition Excellence Award announced this January. An award lecture is scheduled at the 130th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Ophthalmological Society, which will be held in Fukuoka from April 9 to 12.
Through participation in academic conferences across Japan, we were able to share the potential of our Smart Eye Camera with many healthcare professionals. OUI Inc. will continue working closely with medical providers in Japan and abroad to improve access to eye care.
